Background on Vision Therapy // Eye Exercises To Improve Vision

Today we take a look at two exercises; Pencil Push Ups & Smooth Pursuits. These two exercises have worked wonders for me, and for my clients. The best part is, all you need is a popsicle stick with a letter on it! As a reminder you and only you are responsible for your health. Consult a physician before attempting anything you find online. Pencil Push Ups: To begin, stand in a comfortable stance where you're not likely to fall. (This will be different for every individual) Then, hold your popsicle stick out in front of you with the letter facing you. Lengthen up (stand tall), and begin moving the letter into your nose, tracking it with both eyes. DO NOT move into Double Vision (Diplopia), it's okay if the letter becomes a little blurry, but do not move past that. Push the letter back out to the starting point, and begin again. Perform 6-8 reps then reassess. Implement this exercise into your current training program if you had a positive effect. Smooth Pursuits: Once again, begin by standing in a comfortable stance, lengthen up, and hold the letter out in front of you. Make sure your head stays completely still and begin moving the letter either to the North, South East or West. The goal here is to have your eyes continually track the letter through a field. Perform 6-8 reps in each direction. Implement this exercise into your current training program if you had a positive effect. To summarize, test something you care about (ROM, Flexibility, Strength etc..) perform these drills, and reassess to see if these drills are right for you. As always, you are 100% responsible for your own health, and should take the proper precautions to ensure safety in completing the movements. Let me know how you do!!!
