Introduction to Warren Choules

Our dad, Warren Choules, also known as William, Bill (our apologies if we told you he wasn't home, we honestly didn't know his real name), Chile, chief cook and bottle washer, or really anything except "late for dinner" passed away on May 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Of all his names, his most cherished name by far was Grumpy. Warren was born to Jack and Maxine Choules on October 18, 1949, in Preston, Idaho. He attended West Side High School, where his children and some of his grandchildren later followed in his footsteps. (We even had the same teacher, our deepest apologies to Mr. Cattani). Go Pirates!! On July 15, 1972, he married Sessilee Jensen. They eventually settled in Clifton, Idaho, where they proudly raised their six children. If you knew Warren, you loved him, unless, of course, you were also afraid of the gold tooth that flashed whenever he got angry. You might have known him from his 36 years of dedicated service in the National Guard. Maybe you met him at the landfill, where he actively rescued your discarded "treasures" to bring them home instead of leaving them there (sorry, Mom). Or perhaps you were being a bit naughty at the Famous Preston Night Rodeo and encountered him working as a “rent-a-cop” (his words, not ours). Most likely, you rubbed shoulders with him right in Clifton. You could easily find him hanging out at Papa Jay's, up on the mountain calling for his cows, borrowing a tractor, or cheering at a West Side game. Above all, you likely knew him because he helped you. He helped everyone he met, truly living up to his reputation as a grumpy old man with an incredibly kind heart. The only thing he loved more than shooting the breeze was his grandkids and great grands. He loved them more than he loved us and we knew it. Warren is survived by his wife, Sessilee Choules; four of his children: Teresa Robinson (Mike), Kelly Elder (Jared), Devin Choules (Nicole), and Landon Choules (Holly); 24 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. His two sons, Ricky and Bryan, plus his parents and siblings came to collect him from this earthly life and we can’t even imagine what a reunion that was. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon) at the Clifton Church, located at 170 W. First N., Clifton, Idaho. A viewing will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho and Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Clifton Church. We would like to thank the kind caregivers at Heritage Assisted Living for loving our dad like they would their own. He felt your love! In lieu of flowers, please consider leaving a memory of the nicest thing this “grumpy” person ever did for you. We want to compile these stories to create a lasting legacy to pass down to the generations that come next. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com Funeral services will be streamed live and can be viewed Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (MDT) by clicking on the following link:
